Call Back

Thanks to the financial support from the Arts Council under the YPCE (Young People, Children and Education) Programme Activity Fund, this year’s summer show Call Back will celebrate the very best of both past and present of Limerick Youth Theatre’s twenty year history.

Call Back invites you to join past and present members on a nostalgic journey through two decades of youth theatre making at the Belltable from 17 – 19 August 2017. Featuring new writing by Ella Daly and Maeve Stone, an adaptation of Antigone directed by Marc Atkinson, original music composed by Muireann Hogan &  movement by Krystal O’Brien for Lost Girl, design by Nick Bromfield for all four pieces which make up Call Back,   This is devised by Aidan Crowe, Shane Whisker and cast with Naomi O’Kelly directing Audition and Ann Blake directing and providing musical direction for Maeve Stone’s original work Lost Boy, Lost Girl; this show will be an immersive experience. Ciarda Tobin and Marie Boylan are mentoring the cast and creative team. They are supported by Mags O’Donoghue, Jay Kavanagh, Kerrie Ahern and Emily Waters on production.

LYT Artistic Director, Angie Smalis said; ‘I felt it was important to invite former members who are currently working in the profession to work with our current members to celebrate LYT’s twentieth birthday. Hours have been spent researching membership application forms, looking through archives, conducting surveys and contacting former members to understand the impact LYT has had on their professional and personal lives from as far back as 1997. We were fortunate that so many former members were delighted to get involved in this year’s production and create something new to mark this milestone.’

She added; Call Back is LYT’s twentieth summer show. Over six hundred young adults have passed through LYT’s doors and have experienced every aspect of making theatre in a safe, inclusive and creative environment. I hope that when LYT comes to celebrate its thirtieth birthday that its extraordinary alumni will have grown after this years’ experience.’

There will be six performances of Call Back at the Belltable from 17 – 19 August 2017.
